11 Oak Street, Sunshine Beach
About this property
Take a trip down memory lane to a time when holidays meant spending quality time together, long walks on the beach, boardgames around the kitchen table, a good book to read under a shady tree, and no digital distractions….it’s time to bring back the simple life!
The Castle on Oak has been lovingly restored to its original 1950s state, complete with retro fixtures and fittings, original timber flooring, vintage colour scheme (think duck egg blue, sunflower yellow and mint green) and original crockery and glassware.
What you won’t find here is a dishwasher, a SmartTV or even wifi – just a good old-fashioned telly with a DVD player and stack of magazines to keep you occupied. But then, with a beautiful surf beach a short walk away, and a lovely shady back garden with real grass to kick back in, you’ll be kept busy doing nothing but relaxing!
Featuring two bedrooms and one bathroom, this pet-friendly house sleeps up to 5 guests. The main bedroom has a Queen bed while the second bedroom has a double bunk to sleep 3. Both rooms have ceiling fans. The bedrooms are adjacent to the modest but comfortable air-conditioned living area where double doors open out onto the sunny front entrance deck.
The kitchen table takes pride of place in the centre of the kitchen, encouraging guests to come together to eat, chat and reflect. Alternatively, dine alfresco in the lovely private sun room at the back of the house, overlooking the garden, featuring a large dining table, ceiling fan, BBQ, and cafe blinds and adjustable shades.
A cosy bathroom features the original black and white chequered floor tiles and has an over-bath shower and single sink. There is a separate WC.
An external laundry has a washing machine only (no drier – but there is an outdoor clothes line), and a second shower, perfect for rinsing the sand off after an afternoon on the beach.
The enclosed back garden is spacious, a rarity these days with more and more space being given over to the physical building. There is a traditional wrought iron table and chairs from which to enjoy your morning cuppa, or take an afternoon nap on the grass under the mighty pandanus trees, listening to the sounds of the ocean.
Pets are welcome on approval, fees do apply.
Oak Street is a gentle 10 minute walk to the Sunshine Beach Village, where you will find a good variety of cafes, bars and restaurants on offer. Access to the patrolled beach is easy with an access path across the road from the house.
